Saar Van Hove is a wood conserver and restorer with a passion for the history and iconography of objects. She believes understanding the context and story behind historical objects is key to their conservation.
Saar graduated with a Master's degree in Conservation and Restoration sciences at the University of Antwerp. During her studies, she spent half a year in Helsinki where she broadened her knowledge to include the conservation and restoration of leather. Before commencing her studies, she had already obtained a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design.
Saar has developed a special expertise in the historical and material technical investigation of wooden heritage objects. She is adept in the analysis of historical documents and technical research to further knowledge about the provenance and state of these objects. In addition, she likes to carry out detailed restorations with respect for the environment.
