The canopies were erected during construction works on the river at the end of the 19<sup>th<\/sup> to facilitate dock activities and store goods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In preparation of the restoration of the halls on the Jordaens quay, a research project was started in order to optimize the treatment plans. A first step was to chart all deterioration of the halls. A few welding tests were carried out in order to assess different creative restoration methods. These trial pieces were analyzed in order to evaluate their applicability and efficiency. A stratigraphical study was undertaken in order to specify the original finishing layers of the structure.
