Furniture, DIVA Museum Antwerp

Polishing raw diamonds to finished jewels.

A few furniture pieces originating from the DIVA Museum depot were in dire need of repairs.

The backrest of an Art Nouveau majorelle chair had been severely damaged, with fractures and material loss. Using an intact chair as reference, we reconstructed the carved wooden back and mounted it to the chair after carrying out some additional, smaller repairs.

Another chair in the collection had been broken in seven pieces, and had to be reassembled. Lacunae were filled in with pieces of the same wood species, and everything was finished according to the original techniques and materials.
