An old roof requires a lot of work. Investigation for safe and sustainable roof constructions in the Royal Music Academy of Brussels.
The Royal Music Academy in Brussels comprises multiple buildings which were combined throughout history to form this prestigious institution. Because of this blend of properties, the buildings were constructed in different periods of time and as such, have very different roof structures.

In order to examine the stability and damage of the wood structures, a material and technical investigation was carried out. Resistance drilling in crucial joints and other fundamental locations served as a basis for mapping and taking stock of damages to the construction. An overview of all the zones which were found critical, was drawn up. These zones required repairs, interventions or partial replacements.
